The Norwood Theatre
The Norwood Theatre was built in 1927, and reopened in 2012 after doing some restoration work. It can seat 731 people, and it has beautiful decor and advanced lighting and sound systems. There’s also a retractable movie screen. This place often has live music, comedians, musicals, holiday shows, and more. The box office is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and most shows start at 7:30 or 8 p.m. Groups of 12 people or more can get a 10% discount.
At To Beirut Lebanese and Mediterranean restaurant, you can enjoy authentic, delicious Greek, Middle Eastern, and American cuisine. This family-owned restaurant uses premium, all-natural ingredients. Start with deep-fried cauliflower and eggplant with tahini sauce, fried dandelion greens with caramelized onion, chicken or beef shawarma, or vegetarian or beef stuffed grape leaves. You can also try the falafel burger with hummus, tahini, parsley, radishes, and pickled turnip. Lamb, chicken, beef, steak, and beef meatball kabobs are available as well.
For dessert, you can choose a fruit tart, baklava, plain or chocolate custard, or rice pudding with jasmine syrup. This place is open Tuesday through Thursday until 9 p.m. It closes at 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 7 p.m. on Sundays.
Olde Colonial Cafe
The Olde Colonial Cafe has been open since 1969. It has a great bar and a laid-back, casual atmosphere. You can start with stuffed clams, chicken wings, fried calamari, mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms, New England clam chowder, or lobster bisque. Dinner options include a turkey dinner with corn, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce, pan-seared salmon with lemon pepper seasoning, and shrimp scampi.
The Chicken Angelo is a breaded chicken breast with scallop and clam stuffing, and the Veal Finn comes with veal, broccoli, mushroom sauce, and lobster meat. A wide variety of wines and beers are available, and this place has delicious cocktails. The Nantucket Mule comes with vodka, cranberry juice, a lime wedge, and ginger beer. The Scarlet’s Walk Martini has vodka, champagne, raspberry liqueur, lime juice, and cranberry juice. This place is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4 to 10:00 p.m.
Castle Island Brewery
Castle Island Brewery often hosts trivia competitions, bingo, and other fun events. They offer a variety of unique beers, including Pleasure Cruise, an IPA with notes of fruit punch, and Razz Dazz, a raspberry chocolate truffle beer with notes of vanilla. Everyday Fighter is a pale ale with a low alcohol content that’s perfect for enjoying after a long day, and Dreamcoat is a sour ale with notes of passion fruit.
If you don’t feel like hanging out there, you can order beer to-go. There’s also a gift shop with hats, beer cozies, coolers, dog collars, and more. You can visit Monday through Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m., Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., or Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
Mick Morgan’s is a fun bar that’s connected to the Hampton Inn on Route 1. It has a great atmosphere and a spacious patio. Appetizers include quesadillas, fried pickles, pork potstickers with chili sauce, Bavarian pretzels baked to order with beer cheese dip, and potato skins with sour cream, scallions, and bacon and cheese or chili and cheese. You can also choose one of several great burgers. The Galway Godfather has Angus beef, bacon, mustard sauce, fried jalapenos, Cheddar cheese, and coleslaw.
The Lilywhite comes with a fried egg, Angus beef, bacon, and Cheddar cheese. The Beyond Burger is plant-based, and it has pepper jack cheese, peppers, onions, and chipotle mayonnaise. With the Irish Burger, you’ll get a pretzel bun, Guinness gravy, Angus corned beef, onion rings, and Swiss cheese.
There’s also a delicious seafood casserole with haddock, shrimp, scallops, white wine sauce, vegetable rice, and cracker crumbs. For dessert, try the dark chocolate and peanut butter mousse pie or the brownie sundae, a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. This place is open until 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and it’s open until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Napper Tandy’s is an authentic Irish pub with an enclosed outdoor patio, tables with high tops, and an oak bar. There’s also a second bar made of mahogany, a stone fireplace, and a lounge with low tables. You can start with Bavarian pretzel sticks and beer mustard or mozzarella cheese wedges with marinara sauce. For dinner, choose the chicken Parmesan with mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce or the shrimp scampi with a garlic lemon white wine sauce. This place is open every day until 11 p.m.
Acton Bowladrome & Arcade
The Acton Bowladrome & Arcade is in Acton, about half an hour away from Norwood, and it’s a lot of fun for kids and adults. The bowling alley often hosts cosmic bowling with lots of colored lights, and the arcade has 50 games, including Guitar Hero. There’s also a concession area with pizza and lots of candy and snacks available. You can participate in one of many bowling leagues or just show up with some friends.
Acton Bowladrome & Arcade is open from 5 to 10 p.m. on Mondays, from 2 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays. On Fridays, you can visit from 2 to 10 p.m., and on Sundays, this place is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
